10 Rand

10 Rand is a re-imagination of South Africa's currency to take advantage of both its rich history and its bright future.

In 2010 I was taking my second semester of Print Design. As an assignment, we were tasked with redesigning the currency of a country. The project called for a new system that represented aspects of the country’s history and culture, while incorporating modern tenets of currency design: security, accessibility, and identity.

In addition to designing a system for the denominations to belong too, we also had to design a booklet that would present our idea and give a context and background to our design desicions.
